The body’s “core” refers to the muscles around the abdomen, pelvis and back.  The core is the body’s center of gravity.  As a result, it plays a role in almost all activities, from sitting to standing or walking to running.  The core muscles are at work stabilizing our body from the force of gravity as they are the human body’s “base”.

Weak core muscles make individuals more susceptible to poor posture, back pain, and injuries during activity.  This is only one reason why strong core muscles are important.

For maximum effectiveness, core strengthening exercises should be performed three times
per week.
